In an effort to promote regional academic focus, the School Leadership Center hosted a regional Superintendents’ Summit in 2003 to provide a unique opportunity for educational leaders of the six-district region to join together for planning and sharing.
The recognition that student issues do not stop at parish lines is crucial for continued growth and became more apparent in 2005 with the diaspora following Hurricane Katrina. Since the first meeting, the superintendents have committed to making this summit a yearly occurrence where they are able to assemble their staffs and collaborate in a regional approach to educational issues. One of the interests expressed by superintendents resulted in a national grant funding the Coaching Program and has expanded into a coaching program offered to veteran principals.
