Dr. Scott Bauer (PhD. Cornell University) serves as Associate Dean of Advanced Education & Doctoral Programs in the School of Education & Human Development, University of Colorado Denver. His research interests involve the application of organizational theory to the improvement of schools and the efficacy of various strategies used to develop school leaders at all levels. Prior to joining the faculty at UC Denver, Dr. Bauer was on the faculty at George Mason University, the University of New Orleans, and served as Research Director of SLC. In addition to serving on the SLC Board, he is also a member of the board of directors of the Apple Federal Credit Union Education Foundation and serves on the Supervisory Committee of Apple Federal Credit Union.
Dr. Brian Beabout is a graduate of the Instructional Systems Ph.D. program at Penn State University. He has six years of urban teaching experience, four of which were in the Orleans Parish Public Schools. He holds certificates as a Secondary English teacher and K12 Principal. Dr. Beabout’s main areas of research are leadership for social justice, applications of systems theory and chaos/complexity theory to educational change, and the phenomenology of educational change.
Dr. Daniel L. Duke is a Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Virginia. He has taught courses on educational leadership, organizational change, and school reform for three decades. Dr. Duke has served on the faculties of Lewis and Clark College and Stanford University and recently founded the Thomas Jefferson Center for Educational Design. He has written or co-written 25 books and has worked as a consultant with over 150 school systems, state agencies, foundations and governments across the nation and abroad. Dr. Duke received his Ed.D. from the State University of New York at Albany.
Dr. Byron R. Harrell is the Founder (2006) and Managing Partner of Philoptima Consulting. He advises private foundations on the power of strategic philanthropy, measurement, and system design. His clients include nonprofit hospitals converting assets into the corpus of a private foundation known as “health legacy” foundations. Byron is author of “Supercharged Giving: The Professional’s Guide to Strategic Philanthropy” and “Size Matters: Why Large Foundations Fail.” Byron served 24 years as President/CEO of a large medical center that ultimately became a large private foundation located in New Orleans. He is a past Chairman of the Southeastern Council of Foundations headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Harrell holds a Doctor of Science degree from Tulane University with a focus on organizational behavior. He holds a Master of Science degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas an a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from West Texas State University (now a part of the Texas A&M system).
Hollis Milton is the Superintendent of the highly rated West Feliciana Parish School District and was named 2017-2018 State Superintendent of the Year for Louisiana. He began as Superintendent in June 2010. The district letter grade improved from a “B” to an “A” that year and has continued at the top level for six consecutive years. Superintendent Milton is the current President of the Louisiana Association of School Superintendents and is the current Chair of the influential Parish Superintendents’ Advisory Council. Mr. Milton is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and holds a Master of Educational Leadership from LSU. Previously, he has been recognized as a two-time Teacher of the Year in East Baton Rouge Parish and a Principal of the Year in East Baton Rouge Parish. Mr. Milton serves on numerous boards for local, state, and national organizations, including: St. Francisville Rotary, the West Feliciana Concerned Citizens Group, the American Institutes of Research, the School Leadership Center of Greater New Orleans, and the Louisiana Math and Science Academy.
Robert Mora is managing partner of Pedelahore & Co. LLP. A graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, Mr. Mora is a member of the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the New Orleans Estate Planning Council. Mr. Mora is actively involved in development and support for various locally and nationally recognized non-profit organizations. His current positions as either officer or director include the Epilepsy Foundation, Cabrini High School, New Orleans Rotary Club, New Orleans Rotary Foundation, Southern Eye Bank, and Richard Murphy Hospice.
Dr. Cynthia J. Reed is the Dean of the College of Education and Human Services at Northern Kentucky University. She joined NKU in 2014 after 17 years of academic and leadership service at Auburn University, during which time she served as the Emily R. and Gerald S. Leischuck Endowed Professor of Educational Leadership, as Director of the Truman Pierce Institute (TPI), a research and outreach center, and as a Professor of Educational Leadership. Her first career was in K-12 education. Dr. Reed is a past president of the University Council for Educational Administration and is on the editorial review board of several national and international journals. She was a Lilly Endowment Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh School of Education and the founding coordinator of the Access to College Education Initiative housed at SUNY Cortland. Dr. Reed earned her B.S. in Elementary Education and her M.S. in Elementary Education with Specialization in Gifted Education from SUNY Oswego; a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Administration and Supervision from SUNY Cortland; and an Ed.D. in Administrative and Policy Studies with Specialization in Policy, Planning, and Evaluation from the University of Pittsburgh.
Patty Riddlebarger is Entergy’s Director of Corporate Social Responsibility. Her department is founded on the idea that companies are a part of the communities they serve, and so have the duty to help those communities thrive – beyond charitable donations and philanthropy. Ms. Riddlebarger’s area of responsibility encompasses eight states. She is also responsible for low-income customer service initiatives, a series of programs designed to address the needs of Entergy’s low-income customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Ms. Riddlebarger received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and her MBA from Tulane University.
Dr. Ronald S. Rochon is the provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at the University of Southern Indiana. He was the co-founder and, for seven years, the director of the Research Center for Cultural Diversity and Community Renewal at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Rochon has over 15 years of experience as a teacher, researcher, and administrator. His primary research interests are culturally responsive education and administration, history and philosophy of American education, and multicultural education. Dr. Rochon earned his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Educational Policy Studies.
Dr. Dereck Rovaris earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas with a triple major in Psychology; Human Development and Family Life; and Crime and Delinquency Studies. Dr. Rovaris earned a Master’s degree from Xavier University of Louisiana and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Illinois. As Vice Provost & Chief Diversity Officer of Louisiana State University, Dr. Rovaris plays a role as a principal advisor to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost on issues regarding equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Mary Keller Zervigon, Esq. has an extensive history of public service and philanthropic efforts. She is currently the President of the Keller Family Foundation and a Trustee of the RosaMary Foundation. Ms. Zervigon has served as a delegate to the Louisiana Constitutional Convention, an advisor to numerous City Mayors beginning with Moon Landrieu, and chairperson of the Louisiana Tax Commission. Her current civic activities include the Board of Liquidation President, City Debt; research committee member, Public Affairs Research Council; trustee, Xavier University; and board chair, Advocates for Science and Mathematics Education. Ms. Zervigon received her Juris Doctor from Loyola University.
